My Musical Solo performance

What instrument are you playing and why?
I am playing the piano because it is the easiest instrument I know and I also really like playing the piano. I like playing the piano because it's fun to learn and doesn't take too long to learn.

Which song have you chosen and why?
I chose to play Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. I chose to play this because it was the first song I ever learnt a page off and It also sounds cool too.

What type of assessment are you doing and why? 
I am recording my performance as it is my last performance I will do for school and I won't be doing this next semester. I also want to record it alone because I feel I will be more comfortable doing it alone than playing in front of the class.

Music - Group Performances

What instrument did you choose to learn and why?
I chose to play the piano because it is the only instrument I know how to play. I also chose it because of our song.

What song did you choose to learn and why?
My group and I first chose to play Adeles - Someone Like You. We then changed it later to Twinkle Twinkle Little star because we didn’t really know that much of the song and we didn’t have enough time to play it all together.

What was challenging about this piece and how did you overcome the challenges?
It was challenging when we had tried to learn Someone Like You, we had argued about the song before picking it and had a hard time figuring out who would play what. We overcame this by making everyone pick what they wanted to do and then helping each other when we needed help.

Were you happy with your final recording/performance? Why?
I thought our final performance was ok because we did play twinkle twinkle little star, it was kind of easy and Miss Beer was a little disappointed. We did do our last verse all together which was a little different than the original song.

What would you change about your performance if you could do it again?
I would change the song we would play. It was really hard to try and learn Someone Like you which is why we had to switch to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I wish we also had more time to learn it all together as we rushed before the term ended and couldn’t play the song before messing up.

Were you happy with your overall grade and why?

I am happy with my overall grade because it is pretty hard to work in a group and play a song in a small amount of time. I wouldn’t really change the grade because as I said before, we did play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I got an achieved.

What have you enjoyed about Music this semester?

I’ve enjoyed playing the piano because I don’t really have a piano at home to use, I also don’t really know how to play piano either so it was fun learning how to play with my friends.

Music - Pharrell Williams

This week for music we were asked to read a book and then write about the artist or book we chose. I chose Pharrell Wiliams. The book gave a simple summary about their lives. I learnt that Pharrell Williams is a song producer who has created songs for a bunch of different artists. He loved skateboarding too. When he was younger he had started a group called the Neptunes, they started to help make music with other bands and singers. They wrote many famous songs, Pharrell was also in another band but it wasn't as popular as the Neptunes. In 2013 he had helped write two songs for other musicians, they became big hits. He also wrote and performed the song Happy which went into the movie Despicable me 2.  In 2014 he released his own album, he also became the coach for The Voice.

Mystery Genre Performance

For music we were given the task to pick a random genre out of a hat and perform it with a group. We picked out the pop genre from all the different genres we could've done. Pop music is music that is catchy and rhythmical, it also is usually a song or album that gets a lot of hits. My teammates and Lauren, Lorelei, Myka. So far it seems that everyone wants to play piano so we don't know how we are going to do that.

I have played a little bit of piano and guitar.
