Fo Guang Shan Temple Recount

This week on Tuesday the year 7s and 8s went to the Fo Guang Shan buddhist
temple to be apart of the Fo Guang Shan 3G4G event. We left at nine o’clock
after being sorted into two different groups, I was in group two with Ruby,
Genica and Kayla. We then were put into two busses and had been sent to go to
the temple.

When we arrived there were a team of monks and some leaders who were going
to take us throughout the temple. They had greeted us and had taken us inside to
a art gallery to learn what 3G4G meant. 3G means 3 good deeds, the three good
deeds were say good things, think good thoughts and do good deeds. The 4G’s
were give others confidence, give others hope, give others joy and give others
convenience. We had also learned a chant which was “3G4G in action!” in our
two groups we were separated and we were moved to different stations.

Our first station was bathing a buddha and making lotus’. The instructor was
telling us the backstory about the buddha and how when he was born one of his
hands were pointing at the sky and the other was pointing to the earth. We then
made cardstock lotus’ and put them on our hands. We then walked to the art
gallery and went upstairs to the hall of time and the library.

Afterwards we had gone downstairs and were given water tattoos. We then had a
snack of cookies and water.

We were given five minutes to have a break then we all went upstairs to the
main buddhist area to meditate. We meditated for two minutes and then were
given a guest surprise from the police. They taught us about their values and let
us try on some police gear. Afterwards we were then given these bells that you
blow to ring. They then thanked us for coming and we went outside to go to the
busses.

On the bus back some boys started singing about sausages and how they were $2
. Everyone had started singing and I had gotten a headache from all the singing.
The song had gotten stuck in my head for a few minutes but had left when we
were going to tech.

Overall I had a really fun time at the temple, I’ve been to many temples before
but this one was really interesting. I would definitely come again with my friends
and family so they could learn what I learned on tuesday.

My Recount

This year on new years day my sister Anisha, my dad, my aunty and I went to Sydney to go on a cruise. At first it was just my dad and aunty who were going but I managed to beg my dad to let me and my sister go as my sister had just graduated. We wanted to have a good time and also relax from things that had happened last year.

The day we left I was really excited because it would be my first time on a cruise and I got to spend it with my sister who really didn’t have that much time to go anywhere. Then we left and arrived for the airport to board the plane to Sydney. As we were walking I had asked what plane we were going on, My sister had told me that we were going on Emirates. I fistbumped the air because I knew I was going to get food and it was going to be good. After we had dropped our luggage we waited 30 minutes to be able to board the plane. Once we were able to board the plane I had gotten hungry and started eating mints that were in my travel bag that I always pack when I’m going somewhere.  When I was on the plane I was given Pasta with bits of chicken inside of it. I also had this delicious cheesecake that had black forest flavouring sauce.

Once we had Arrived we waited for my aunty who was on another plane since she lived in Somewhere else than us, she then arrived and we went to the hotel we were staying in. We were given red wine and Sparkling Apple Juice which tasted really good.

After two days it was wednesday, the day to board the cruise. I was feeling gloomy as we arrived but when I saw the cruise I instantly brightened up and couldn’t wait to go inside. After getting our room keys and giving our luggage to security so they can put it in our room we finally entered the Cruise and took a photo. When we fully entered the cruise I had said “Whoa, This place is a mansion in disguise! How did we find this company!?” I was really surprised that when we entered that there was a bar, green and purple party lights. It looked like a party instead of a cruise lobby.

After two hours we had gone outside to the top floor and watched the boat depart from the Sydney docks, I was a little seasick so my auntie gave me tablets to stop me from feeling seasick. The country we were going to was called New Caledonia and we were going to a city called Noumea. It took five days to get from Sydney to Noumea so we explored the boat and relaxed while waiting. When we arrived it was quite boring, everyone spoke in french and no one spoke english or knew parts. They were very loud. After an hour we went back onto the cruise and changed into nicer clothes.

After four thirty the cruise left and we were going to fiji. It took 3 days to arrive in Suva but it was extremely hot. We went to my aunties house and ate crab curry which was quite spicy but it was really tasty. We then went to buy some clothes and get my sister a nose pierce which was really pretty, it was gold and had a single crystal on it. We then bought these island dresses for our island themed dinner. We then went back into the boat and then then traveled to Lautoka. We had my uncle over there so they came to pick us up. I then saw my cousins Hinal, Krishnal and Kartik. It was fun seeing them because Hinal had just gotten married recently and I had been there. My sister hadn’t been in Fiji for seven years so it was nice seeing them.

We then went back onto the cruise and traveled to Tonga. On the cruise one night there was a british celebration which had ‘guards’ which were just entertainment people who did it for fun. We arrived at Tonga and we left and explored, we saw a cliff that a young girl died in. it was really sad to know that someone had died but it had an amazing view. Soon it was time to go home and I was getting hungry. As I was looking around I looked into the water and had seen a snake. I had quickly told my sister and she had gotten scared. I laughed at her and then we had gone back onto the cruise.

We had departed from Tonga and arrived into Auckland. I was really sad that the cruise had ended but I was happy that I was able to go on a cruise for the first time. I would love to do it again because it felt like a dream to actually be on the sea. I can’t wait to go on another cruise.

Food Fight of the day

Today was a typical Monday sunny afternoon, me and my parents, who are buffaloes were just going for a walk in the dry grassland of the African Savannah. We were just looking for food because I was hungry.  We were walking peacefully looking around the river bank until my dad told me and my mom to stay put, we asked him why and he said ‘I think we're being targeted right now’.

As my dad was looking for something, I could see a lion's head.  I thought I was hallucinating but I wasn’t!  I saw my dad’s eyes grow ‘Lions, run!’ he shouted.  I could hear faint screeching noises of the lions telling them to chase after us.  I could smell danger lying ahead.  My parents ran without me by their side thinking I was.  As soon as I ran I could see the lions chasing one thing, ME!

I wasn’t as slow as my parents so I was pretty fast for a calf.  I could see desire in their eyes as they chased me, licking their long looking filthy tongues at my rich juicy meat.  Wham! I got knocked into the river I was beside.

I tasted something I never tasted before, blood! I felt like a chicken running away from death.  Swimming up I could feel 2 fluffy and soft hands helping me up, I thought it was my parents, but no it was two lion’s trying to eat me alive!  I could feel a pull on my leg.  I became quiet.  I thought this animal wasn't allowed in the savannas because of what he did to my brother, Jack.  I Looked behind me and saw who it was, it was the animal who killed my brother, A CROCODILE!!  I started struggling to get out of the grip of these predators but I couldn’t.  I felt like a chew toy being pulled by two dogs playing tug-o-war. Finally the lions pulled me out of the water and brought me to their territory, trying to kill me.

I could hear loud stomping feet coming towards me. I knew who it was, My HERD!!  I called out to them and they came running towards me, as they came towards me the lions slowly backed away from me knowing that they lost the battle.  My parents stopped and looked at the lions as they slowly backed away from me and the herd.  My uncle Colton charged at one of the lions and hit it sending it flying 5 feet into the air, Then into the river with the crocodile that had attacked me earlier.  The other lions ran away from me with my family chasing them. I returned to my parents smiling happily.

As I walked back to my parents I felt joy and relief that I was alive, I had a few scratches but other than that I was fine.  I remembered the look on the lions as they saw my parents heard coming up to them, coming to get me back. I smiled at that thought. I had learned my lesson, never go into the wild areas of the savanna as a calf.

Battle at Kruger National Park!

	The Buffalo herd  are walking down the dusty road of grass to find food, but what they don’t know is they are in the habitat of the mighty lions.
	A lion pride have spot the buffalo herd and are getting ready to to pounce on their prey.
	The pride are about to  but waiting for the right time to catch their prey.
	The buffalo herd have spotted the lion pride and are running as fast as they can, but the pride have other plans.
	The pride are about to catch their target, the buffalo calf!
	The pride have their prey, but along comes the crocodile, the food war begins!
	The buffalo has grabbed his whole herd and is coming to get the calf back!
	The lion pride are outnumbered and are very Anxious about what's about to happen.
	One buffalo is starting to ram into the pride to get the buffalo calf back, which ends up to the calf still alive with it's parents scared half to death.
