Narrative Writing

This week for writing we are making alternative fairy tales of classic ones. I made mine about the little mermaid. This is what I have written so far.

Hello fellow humans, welcome to the wonderful way of the sea. Once upon a hundred years a mermaid will come up to the surface to see the wonderful way of how humans live. Sometimes they stay up with the humans or they come back with more knowledge on the land.

This story is about a young mermaid named Ashleigh, or Ash for short. Like all mermaids she has an aquatic friend named Aries. Don’t mind her name, her parents had thought she was her twin brother Acules at first after naming her. Today was the day that ashleigh had turned sixteen and thought her father, Adonis wouldn’t notice if she had left for just a hour just to see the deep side of the water, the bad side of the sea. Aries had told Ashleigh many times that It was where Gary, An octosquid who had anger issues was living. Gary was banished to that part of the sea because he had almost killed the king. “It’ll be fine Aries, No one will notice i’m here” ,she had said. You see Ashleigh was going to be the next queen of the ocean as her uncle, the king had no children. Ashleigh was the only one who could be the queen. Many people had thought it was her destiny but she thought otherwise.

What she didn’t know was that she would make the deal of a lifetime, it would change her destiny forever.

  1. Great start to your story, Trisha. I like the mythical names that you are adding in to your recreation of The Little Mermaid.

When you go back to edit, double check where your capital letters are and where some might need to be added!

I look forward to the next part of your story.
