The Water Cycle

How The Water Cycle Works.

When it rains, snows or hails it has a complicated cycle to make it rain or snow. It is called the water cycle, It contains three different elements to make it rain. The three elements are evaporation, condensation and precipitation.

Evaporation
Evaporation starts with the sun, when water is visible to water it slowly burns the water into water vapor, water vapor is a gas that is basically just water. When you cook something there is steam that rises up, thats water vapor.

Condensation
Condensation comes and takes the water up to the clouds. It takes the vapour to the clouds and cools it down. It stores the now cooled water until precipitation comes. As the water is cooling it can turn into hail and snow as it is cooling because the air near the clouds in below 0℃ .

Precipitation
Precipitation takes over condensation and is slowly turning the water into rain, snow, sleet or hail. The water then gets bigger until it turns into a reasonable size to fall down and hit the ground. The oceans, lakes and rivers all collect the water so then the water cycle repeats.

That is how the water cycle is formed. The cycle is much more complicated with many more theories on how it is actually formed but this is what scientists have come up with. There are many more possibilities that that is only a tiny part of the cycle but we might never know the real reason on the water cycle.

Science Term 2 - Chicken bones

What is bone made of?


Aim  To investigate the effect of acid on bone.

Method


  1. Get four chicken bones


  1. Cleaned all the pieces of leftover food off the piece of bone


  1. Weighed all the pieces of bone


  1. Put the bones in different containers


  1. Put Water in one of them


  1. Put acid in another


  1. Put coke in another


  1. Close the containers


  1. Wait two weeks.


  1. Check after two weeks and see what happened

Conclusion

The bones have different weights and they all smell different. The water bone
and both bones in coke went up and weight, the acid went down in weight.
The coke bones had went a disgusting blackish brown colour. Coke didn't
properly work so had to try again.

Skittles Experiment


Method:

1. 1/2 fill a petri dish with water

2. Carefully place 4 different coloured skittles evenly spaced around the outside of the petri dish.

Hypothesis: I think that the water will dilute the Skittles and the colouring will start to come towards the middle.



Scientific Reasoning: 
The skittles are made of sugar and food colouring. As the Sugar dissolves the food colouring moves over the water with sugar  until it cannot move any further because of the other colours

 Test it out.


Conclusion:
The water diluted the skittles and the colour started coming out and spreading.

The scientific Method

Aim: To compare the boiling point of tap water and salt water.

Hypothesis: I think that the boiling salt water is higher than tap water.

Equipment: 
150mls Tap water (two)
Salt (2tbs)
Safety glasses
2 beakers
Bunsen burner
Bunsen burner tripod
Heat resistant mat
Gauze mat
Thermometer

Method:
1. Collect your equipment.
2. Attach the bunsen burner to a gas tap.
3. fill up both beakers with water.
4. add salt to one beaker and mix
5. Place the beaker with tap water on the tripod.
6. Place the bunsen burner on the heat mat underneath.
7. Light the bunsen burner and adjust the flame to blue.
8. As it heats up place the thermometer in the beaker of water until it is boiling.
9. Record the temperature on your blog.
10.Repeat the process with the salt water 

Findings: Boiling Point

Tap water: 102c

Salt water: Centigrade.
