Life For Women in WW1

W.A.L.T describe what life was like for men and women in WW1 through a diary entry.

29th May 1916

Everyday and every night has been tough. picking fruits, sewing clothes and working in factories is tough.  Everyday I miss my my dad and brother Shiva who are fighting for their lives, for our country.  At night I always imagine that Shiva and my dad are here safe and sound in bed, which helps me go to sleep.

Every dreadful morning I’m pretty anxious about the terrifying death telegraph for them both, which makes me very tense and empty in my heart.

My friends Millie, Julie, Jessica and Cadenza have also been great help at the farm.

Mum has barely came out of the house, which is understandable because of war and dad and Shiva gone.  Shiva has been sending letters to me which makes my day, knowing he’s ok still kicking with dad.

Yesterday I had found out that Cadenza’s Brother, Carlos has been injured and almost killed by gas, which is terrifying for her and her mother.

I have to go to bed now,  tomorrow i’m signing up as a nurse, I just hope mum can handle the farm alone, if not then my friends will help her like always.
