P.E

Today for P.E we were back into groups and working on little things we focused on Sprints and Javelin. I think overall we did a pretty good job staying on task and improving on our techniques. The events we did today were Sprints and Javelin. Our group is made up of four people: Lorelei, Sofia,Cameron and I. The skills involved in sprints are .The skills involved in Javelin are how you throw the javelin, being side on, and throwing in a specific way. Our group goal was to use the sprint blocks properly which was achieved because we did use the sprint blocks. We did this by setting the blocks in the right places, putting our hands behind the line and practicing our starting positions. We did not record any results but we will remember to bring some sort of measuring equipment before we leave next week.

Critical Literacy Group Work

This week for English we were asked to work in groups and fill in a document with the questions below. We were also asked to pick between two songs, the songs were Love The Way You Lie by Eminem ft Rihanna or Big Girls Cry by Sia. Lorelei and I chose Love The Way You Lie. We were then asked to pick three questions and then write a summary on the music video. This is what we have done.

Group work- Critical text analysis

Texts(s): Love The Way You Lie - Eminem Ft Rihanna
Topic: Critical Literacy
How did your group focus the analysis? (Which aspect did you select to critically examine?)
  • Inclusion
  • Exclusion
  • Representation
  • Multiple readings
Which critical literacy questions did your group select to analyse the text(s)?
23. How does the text depict age, gender and or cultural groups
19. Is the text fair
29. How does the text construct a version of reality?
Why did your group select those questions?
We both chose these questions because we think these questions will relate well to the text. We also chose these questions because we would be able to write about it in a way that we can represent the text in our own words
What did your group conclude from the critical analysis? (So what?)
We concluded that the text isn’t fair at all. At the start of the text it shows that the female protagonist wanted out in a toxic and abusive relationship while the male protagonist wouldn’t let her. She was about to leave after seeing that he had another females name and number on his hand as they were sleeping. She was made and decided to leave so she packed up and told him that she was going to leave. After hearing that he pushed her into a wall, started yelling at her, punched the wall beside her head and then realised what he had done. The text depicts adults that are in relationships aren’t always happy and have the stereotypical happy family lives that most people dream for. The text also depicts that males in this type of relationship are more towards the physical side while females are like rag dolls, when they act out of form then they get pushed around until they oblige with the males demands or requests. The text shows that stereotypically only white people suffer in toxic relationships when in reality any race, culture or gender can be toxic in a relationship. The text shows a version of reality that actually is real. Even though it isn’t completely accurate it is pretty close to some relationship in real life, some experience this everyday and at a much worse point.
What Am I Learning?
I am learning about how to use critical literacy in different ways
How Does This Show My Learning?
It shows my understanding about the topic and the fact that I am able to write everything in my own words.
What Am I Wondering?
I am wondering what other types of relationships can be toxic without the couple noticing about it.

Heart Attacks

What causes a Heart Attack?
A heart attack is caused when blood vessels that supply blood back to the heart are being blocked, preventing oxygen to getting towards your heart. If the blood flow from your coronary arteries are blocked it starves your heart of oxygen and heart cells begin to die from the lack of oxygen.

How do you know you are having a Heart Attack?
Some of the main symptoms towards heart attacks are chest pains, Pain sometimes around your body. You also may sweat, have short breaths, feel fatigue and become dizzy.

How do you prevent a Heart Attack?
Some ways to help prevent a Heart Attack are to quit smoking if you do, control your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, exercise regularly, be a healthy weight, control your diet, don't stress as much and try not to drink as much. It won't immediately stop you from having a heart attack but it can help reduce the percentage a bit.

Heart Details
Your heart has two sides, one is thick while the other is thin. The thick side produces blood for your whole body, whereas the thin side collects the blood from your veins and capillaries. Your heart also has fat, which is a thick white substance that your body is also covered in. Your heart mainly consists of cardiac muscle cells (or Myocardium). Valves control the blood flow in your veins. On the top of the heart there are two holes that are called the Aorta and the Superior Vena Cava. The aorta carries blood around your whole body and the Superior Vena Cava carried De-oxygenated blood towards your heart to be oxygenated.

Lamb Heart Dissection
We were given the chance to dissect a lambs heart because we were learning about how the heart works. The first thing we did was create a little covered table for the heart and wore gloves. We then were given the heart and a scalpel, scissors and tweezers to help dissect the heart. We then cut up the heart and looked at the veins, cartilage and muscles. At first we thought it was a pigs heart and then realized that it was a lambs heart. The difference between a lambs heart and a pigs heart is how close it is towards a humans heart. A pigs heart closely resembles a humans heart with how it looks and where all the holes are.

Make the report eggs-act
One of the king's men was asked to write a report for the Nursery Rhymes Gazette. He does not have the slightest idea of where to put his full stops and capital letters for the beginning of sentences. Correct his work: we arrived at the scene of the disaster at about 1 pm poor Mr Dumpty was lying on the ground with what seemed to be a fractured shell he was moaning a lot and blamed a  loose stone in the wall where he was sitting before the accident the other men and myself tried to give Mr Dumpty first aid, but the sticky tape and super glue would just not work we called the Cackleberry Ambulance but they would not come they thought we were just yolking

Self Directed Learning Goal

Last week for our learning goals we chose a goal that we wanted to work on start working on  the goal so then it can become green. I chose "Ask for feedback when I am done. I will do this by asking someone to read or look at my work and then ask for their opinion."

Harriet Tubman and The Underground Railroad

This week for Social Studies we were learning about Spirituals, Slaves and the Underground Railroad. We learnt about Harriet Tubman and what she did to help slaves in america escape torture. We were told to make a poster about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. I decided to make a little poster about who Harriet was and what she did to help slaves.
 ----------

Harriet Tubman was born into slavery, In 1849 she escaped into freedom and became the most famous “conductor” for the Underground Railroad. She risked her life to save hundreds of slaves from the south.

The Underground Railroad is a system that Tubman used to carry enslaves people out into freedom. It was a network of people that helped fatigued slaves escape into Northern America and Canada. They hid people in Churches, Private homes and schoolhouses. Code names for the safe houses were commonly named as “Stations” Or “Depots”. The other slaves that were helping Harriet were called “Conductors” or “Stationmasters”.

Spirituals are a form of music that explains slaves longing or suffering while working. Singing gives them a drive to carry on with their work or get their mind of working. Some songs had meanings that only slaves knew. Some songs were signs that the coast was clear and that they could escape. An example of this is Swing low sweet chariot, the song is helping slaves escape when the song is sung randomly at night. It was a signal for slaves that the coast was clear and they could escape while they had time.

Maths

This week for Maths we were learning about a lot of different things. Today I'm going to talk about the emoji's chart we did. We were looking at a graph that had a cuteness and used scale. We first looked at the scale and then figured out what was going on in the chart. I found out that the cat that is smiling is the most used emoji that Is the cutest. I also found out that the red angry emoji is the least liked and cutest one.

After that we were asked to create our own chart of emojis that we use and find cute. We weren't finished with our chart but I am pretty sure that the crying eyes emoji was the most used emoji and the octopus emoji was the cutest.
