This week for Textiles we are learning about sustainability. This is what I have learned so far for what sustainability means. It was fun to learn about sustainability because it can teach us to be environmentally friendly.

The Giver
This week for english we watched a movie called The Giver. The movie was about a boy named Jonas who is living in a organisation that is made so then no conflict happens and that they can also stay safe from the dangers of "elsewhere". They are given jobs by the chief elder that they do for the rest of their life. If you want to find out more watch the movie. We were then asked to answer some questions.
Did you enjoy the movie? Why/why not?
I did enjoy the movie, I like how it is set in the future and how everything slowly changes into a more interesting story.
Who was you least and most favorite character and why?
My Least favourite character was The chief elder because she wants everyone to basically become robots, she doesn't really listen to the rules but she makes everyone else.
My most favourite character is Fiona because even though she doesn't know what she's doing she still does it because she thinks it's right.

Hyrdogen Gas
Aim: To show that hydrogen gas is produced when a metal reacts with acid.
Equipment: A test tube, A boiling tube, A heating pad, Bunsen burner, Wooden splint, A bottle of acid, A piece of metal, Safety glasses
Hypothesis: I think that when the acid and metal react with each other I will expect to see bubbles erupting and when I put a match stick it will create popping noises.
Method:
1. Wear Safety glasses so nothing gets into your eyes and light the Bunsen Burner.
2. Be cautious and put the acid inside of the test tube, you only need 2mL.
3. grab your sample of metal and put it into your test tube containing and acid.
4. Grab the two test tubes and hold them together for a few minutes, allowing time for the inverted boiling tube to fill with gas from the acid and metal reacting with each other.
5. When you think the tube is full, you or your lab partner should light a wooden splint.
6. Carefully, but quickly, tilt the boiling tube full of gas upwards and insert the burning splint into the mouth of the test tube. Make sure you don't burn yourselves or spill the acid and metal.
Observations: The first few times we tried it didn't work until we were told to put our finger on top of the tube with the acid and metal and then put the splint in. when we did the experiment the popping noises always changed on how loud it was.
Discussion: This was because the Hydrogen gas combusted.
Conclusion: My hypothesis was was correct, the gas did pop when the splint and the hydrogen gas were close together

Health
This week for health we have been revising on what Hauora means. We learnt what whare tapa wha is. Whare tapa wha is the 4 walls of a house, or four dimensions.whare tapa wha is important to understand because without one of the the dimensions you would become sick, like a house it will fall if one wall isn't there.
I think I participated well because I researched on my area which was emotional and mental health. I wrote it down and helped make the house by preparing the roof for when the house was finished. I think I could've helped more by writing more information and helping my team more than I did.
It was challenging when no one in my team knew what to do and when we were deciding who was doing what. I coped with the challenge by completing the task and helping my teammates when they got stuck. I worked well with my teammates because we all did different parts of the house. Next time I will try to help make the house look a little better so then we can write more.

Sewing
This week for sewing we were asked to make a trial for our tshirt bags. The first thing we did was research different ways to make a bag, there were so many different ways to make bags that I found interesting. I decided to make a new sew bag like from the video below. The first thing I did was grab a t-shirt and opened the video to watch. I then followed the videos instructions. I did find it hard but i did complete it. I had a lot of fun and I am going to make it again for my final bag.
My next steps are to paint my bag, and to make it all over again.
I plan to draw on the t-shirt so then I know where to cut and paint.

Critical Literacy
This week for english we learnt a little bit about critical literacy. Critical literacy is when you think about how and why something was made. We haven’t learnt much about this topic but we did see a fake news video that we did talk about. We also learnt the CRAP system, the CRAP is a way to find out if news it real or not.
C- C means Current, was it recently made or is it new.
R- R means Relevance, does it match was you are researching?
A- A means Authority, who is the author and where was it published.
P- P means Purpose, what is the author trying to tell you.
